Save BGWMC!
Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club is currently closed and still at risk of being sold off. This is the campaign to bring the club into community ownership, and allow it to continue as an LGBTQ+ performance venue.

We’re crowdfunding. Can you help
Since July 2024, we have been working to protect Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club from proposed plans to close events at the club, evict the programming team, and put the club up for sale. We think the sale of the club would be a tragic loss of yet another LGBTQ+ venue, an iconic part of the eco-system for professional cabaret and drag artists, and would most likely end up in the hands of property developers.
We’ve made significant progress in protecting the building, and have successfully had it recognised as an Asset of Community Value, and won the ‘community right to bid’.
About Us
Coming from and artistic family and formally educated in fine arts background, my original dream was almost singularly focused on becoming a graphic designer. Until discovering the world of interior design—ultimately leading founding Condesa Design studio.
Community consultation
We need your help to put in place further protections on the building. This community consultation will help us to preserve BGWMC as an LGBTQ+ performance venue for the future. We are gathering evidence of all the events at BGWMC from the past 10 years. Please send us your photos, tickets, press cuttings, flyers, wigs(?) and testimonials.
